Collect

Collect is a feature in the System Developer which can reduce the number of rows of data in the analysis pane to a more manageable and easier-to-assess situation.

You will notice in the graphic at right that a system has been run and Analyzed by Race Distance.

The System Developer lists the distance of each and every race that was analysed by the system being run.

You can see in this example that there are nine different distances in the 1000m to 1100m range alone.

If, in this example, you select the Step text in the text box at the bottom of the System developer window and type in 100, in this case meaning 100 metres, then click the Collect button, all the data will rearrange into distance multiples of 100 and the values in other columns will recalculate to suit. This gives you a smaller collection of more easily assessed data.

The distances in the left column would then read: 800-899, 900-999, 1000-1099, 1100-1199 etc

You can, of course, use values other than 100 to ‘Collect’ the data.

The Collect feature is particularly handy in situations where you have Analyzed by such parameters as Formline Ratings or Race Class Value where you could potentially have ten different values between whole numbers.

In the example at right, you can see that there are eight rows of data between the Race Class Values of –13.0 and –14.0

After entering a Step value of 0.5 and clicking Collect, the eight rows are reduced to two, shown at right.
